排灣古謠

for acapella chorus (2017), ca. 6’

na ya i ya i 《 排灣古謠 》 for acapella chorus was written as part of  a collaborative theater work, The Pilgrimage 《遶境共聲》, with a group of Taiwanese composers, curated by Ching-Wen Chao. The basic material of this piece was taken from the traditional  song, “na ya i ya i ”, sung by a girl during my field trip to the Indigenous Paiwan tribe in Taiwan in 2014.  This work was funded by the National Cultural and Arts Foundation (Taiwan) and premiered on September 29 in the Spotlight Concert series at the National Theater & Concert Hall, Taiwan.
